"Oooo, pretty!"

You can never have enough bows in your hair.

Kitchen Antics

The girls have now discovered cabinets. We don't have handles or knobs, so until now, I don't think they realized they actually OPEN. Discovery joy #2, the pots and pans cabinet!

31 Days to Spring

Since I grew up in northern Indiana (at just the spot where all the cold air blowing across Lake Michigan dumps 10-tons of snow), I'm used to winter snow. I actually like snow--it's beautiful and perfect. But this winter in Ohio has seemed to drag on and on. And on. The girls and I have been house bound a few days at a time, twice now because of the snow. Cincinnati actually made history yesterday, getting the MOST snow in February, EVER. Gee, hooray. Although I usually enjoy winter and snow, I'm SO ready for Spring. With that said, c'mon sun, give me your best shot.

Valentine's Cupcakes for Daddy

The girls and I wanted to make Daddy something special for Valentine's Day. We decided on puptates (or, cupcakes). His favorite cake is yellow with chocolate frosting, so to make them extra special, we made them from scratch!

First, we must always wash our hands...

Getting all the ingredients ready!

First, the flour...

Then, the baking powder...

Stir, stir, stir!

I'd better make sure this tastes OK so far...

Next, add the sugar!

Mommy adds the milk, and we stir, stir, stir some more...

Mommy added a few more ingredients but we had to be sure they were mixed well.

I'd better make sure this tastes OK so far...

Next, we put the puptate papers in the tins...

Let's read the directions to be sure we're doing this right...

Mmmmm...beaters...

Now we fill the puptate papers with the dough...

This one looks a little full. I'd better make sure this tastes OK so far...

Ready to bake!

Now we make the frosting!

First, chocolate chips...

After Mommy melts the chocolate and other ingredients, we stir, stir, stir.

Taste test...

I'd better make sure this tastes OK so far...

Tastes OK to me!!

Do I have something on my nose?

Waiting for the puptates to bake so we can frost them!

All done!

Mommy decided to take off our shirts a little late...

Let's FROST!!!

Like this?

I'll just put that right here...

Our only floor mess...pretty good!

Perfect!

Happy Valentine's Day Daddy!!!

Snow Day!

We had our second big snow of the year and decided to take the girls out for their first snow day.

Getting ready took about 30 minutes...

Daddy found a used sled for $5!

While Lauren wanted to sit and play in the snow...

...and eat the snow (mommy made sure there was no yellow snow)...

Whitney wanted to try to walk in the snow...

...and walk...

Refusing to keep our gloves on, we finally got cold.

Time to head in!

Brrrr!!! Look at those rosy cheeks!
