The Rice Cereal trials

We are attempting to feed the girls cereal every day now. It's an organic rice cereal that only has one ingredient - rice - and was grown and packaged with no pesticides, additives, etc. Since Whitney has mean acid reflux and tends to be a bit gassy (she gets that from Daddy, I suspect), I wanted to get something a little less likely to cause any further tummy troubles for her.

While Whitney enjoys the new treat...

Lauren is less than thrilled with the thought of anything other than her beloved milk.

The future's so bright

While Whitney napped, Lauren and I tested our photography skills before the big shoot. Lauren insisted she wear her sunglasses for the event. She also wears them at night. :::insert music here!:::

Calendar Girls

I'm entering the girls in the annual Twins Magazine calendar contest! They want pix of twins in the seasonal variety for each month of their 2009 calendar. Since the deadline is October 1, I figured I'd better catch what was left of summer in our front yard. It's hard to get them both to look at the camera (and smiling is too much work when there's so much to look at!) but I thought they turned out pretty well. Here's their first debut, at our 20 minute photo shoot.

Here are a couple loner photos...

This one could have been a winner...but evidently Whitney didn't think so.

Sitting Pretty

Miss Lauren is perfecting her "sit-up" skills. She's helping Daddy cook dinner tonight.

Puppy Love

Kate and Jacob bought the girls these cute puppies. Now that the girls are grabbing, feeling [and eating] everything they can get ahold of, they LOVE their new puppies!

Hanging with Cousin Kate

We went to Indy over the weekend and Lauren got to bond with Kate while Whitney was napping. First they hung out, then Kate got to feed Lauren. Girls DEFINITELY rule. :)

No cure for the common cold?

Since Cincinnati is basically a bowl - simmering in the 100% humidity and collecting every allergen and virus known to man - Whitney, Lauren and mommy are now sick with colds. Whitney is bearing the brunt of our sickness...clogged head with sneezing and coughing. The first night she had a fever of 101.3 (of course, being a first-time mommy, I called the pediatrician on call at 3:30am. I was instructed to give her Tylenol. BOO). The fevers have gone down but the snot remains. Both girls are in good spirits though, smiling and talking - just leaving trails of mucus wherever they go!

Girls just wanna have lunch

We got together with good friends today for lunch! Ex-coworkers Lisa, Maria and Kara met us at Kristin's new house. Kristin made an AWESOME Southwest salad and we topped it off with cookies that Kara made. Mmmm...my kind of lunch. :) Sophie was also there and we all had a great time!

Kristin, my ex-boss, endured most of the drool from Whitney.

Lisa doesn't know it yet, but she's going to be a live-in Nanny some day. :)

A lazy Sunday

Scott and the girls love to spend Sunday's lazying in bed. Must be nice! :)

What you lookin' at Whitney?!

We LOVE to look at each other! Wow sissy, you sure are pretty! :)

Raspberry's anyone?

My new favorite trick is to blow raspberry's. I do it constantly...so much that I have a sore on my tongue! The doctor's say it's OK though, because blowing raspberry's is an important part of my social interaction and development. Go figure!

Road Trip!

We made our first road trip over Labor Day weekend to mommy's hometown in northern Indiana. Every year, Plymouth Indiana holds its well-known Blueberry Festival (which mommy NEVER misses!) We also went to visit Granny Murray, Papaw and Mamaw Zumbaugh and Great-Grandma Zumbaugh. We stayed for 6 days - and mommy wore us out each and every day!

We sat outside most of the day Saturday as Papaw grilled brats and burgers. Great-Grandma Zumbaugh kept us company.

Our older cousins got to play in the pool. Next year we're going to rule the pool!

Papaw gave rides on the go-cart. We were so jealous we decided it was naptime.

We had our first hayride! At first we sat in the carseats, but mommy decided we weren't going fast enough to have to stay in them. We loved all the fresh air!

Cousin's Vince and Reenie (Rianna).

Sitting pretty with Mamaw and Great-Grandma Zumbaugh.

Cousin Cass with Uncle Brad's lab, Lady.

All this fresh air wears a gal out!

The last day of the Blueberry Festival is celebrated with fireworks. After a hot, hot day, we went to Great-Grandma Zumbaugh's to watch the fireworks. Although we slept for the majority (Mommy was so proud!), they were beautiful!
