Couch potato

With no shirt, remote in-hand and drool...you'd think she was a typical man. :)

Shiny happy people

Whitney and Lauren now smile constantly. Not only at mom, dad, the air...but everything! I caught this one of Whitney, smiling at her friend, the ceiling fan.

In her shoes

These shoes are my FAVORITE. A gift from "Aunt" Meshawn, these skull and crossbone shoes let all the neighborhood kids know who's in charge!!

Is solace anywhere more comforting...

...than in the arms of a sister? - Alice Walker

Scott took these pictures yesterday. The girls can look so loving toward each other sometimes - I hope they end up being the best of friends. :)

Slobber and double-chin city!

"Holding" hands. Usually Whitney tries to rip Lauren's fingers off, but they played nice today.

Sleepy heads.

To sleep, to dream

"You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams."
- Dr. Seuss

I finally have the last finishing touches on the girls' room done. One of my MIL's friends had this "Twins" decal made for me and it's awesome! I love it. The girls are sleeping through the night now, in their own cribs. I'm not sure how much they actually enjoy their room yet, but I love to be in it.

Grandpa Clidence made this bookshelf for the girls. We have books that my mom read when she was a girl, books Scott and I read when we were little (among them, my FAVORITE Richard Scary book) and new ones that people bought us for my showers.

Keeping them busy

I was cleaning my bathroom today and sat the girls up on my bed. The TV was on and of course, Law & Order reruns were tuned on. Yes, watching hours and hours of L&O whilst pregnant has left the girls with a fondness for my crime TV. Looks like we'll be replacing these shows with Signing Times and kiddy TV soon. Whitney is donning one of my favorite onsies...it says "peas on earth" and has a little world with 3 peas stacked on top. The girls have it made if mommy entertains this easily. :)

Trying for 6-pack abs

The girls are really starting to notice things like toys, colors and rattling noises. One of their new favorite spots is under the play gym. Lauren is particularly pleased with how her flailing arms hit the noise makers!

Smiles and Frowns

The girls are starting to laugh and smile so much! I love it...sometimes they let out a laugh so loud it scares them!

Of course, we are not without the occasional puckered bottom lip.

Quiet, I'm thinking.

Whitney loves to sit in the Boppy and gaze out the window. No doubt she's thinking about her acceptance speech when she wins the Nobel Peace Prize.

Nap time

The most comfortable place in the house to sleep, is on Daddy. Yes, it's true. You fall in-love all over again when you see your husband with your children. He's so smitten with our girls - he's in trouble when they get older! :)

Cleanliness is next to Godliness

The girls LOVE to take baths. Our bedtime routine consists of staying awake from 7pm until bathtime around 9:45. They don't particularly enjoy staying up, but getting their bath is so worth it at the end of a long day.

Visiting the Clidences

Scott was away at a conference so the girls and I stayed in Indy with Bob and Sandy. Uncle David, Aunt Anne and cousins Andrew, Jacob and Kate were staying there too, so it was fun to have everyone together!

Grandpa is pulling double duty.

Jacob (the floating torso) keeping the girls company on the floor. Don't they all look enthused?!

Kate and I chanted "girls rule, boys drool" now that we are one up on the boys in the family.

Lauren and Uncle David are enjoying the weather and the company.

Funny face

Lauren's facial expressions crack me up. She's fascinated by her tongue and seeing how big she can open her eyes. She's cheap entertainment!

The human head weighs 8 pounds

The kid from Jerry Maguire has nothing on my girls!

"Best Friends Forever"

Sophie Uhl came to play and we had fun! Lauren and Sophie wanted to see who's cheeks were chubbier. I can see it now, "Can I borrow your Apple Bottom jeans?" "Only if I can borrow your Bebe shirt."

Do I know you?

It's funny. Sometimes the girls are so content by each other and other times, they don't even recognize that the other one is around. This session ended with them stealing each other's nooks out of their mouths. Accidentally, of course.

Winston the Wonder Dog

Poor Winston. He's been so neglected lately...but I reassure him that this time next year, he'll wish he were left alone more!

Are we not like two volumes of one book?

Scott and I are very fortunate to be so close to both our families. Of course both sets of parents are overjoyed to "finally" have grandbabies from the eldest son and daughter. These girls will no doubt be spoiled.

Grandma and Grandpa Clidence (grandparents to 3 other beautiful grandchildren, but proud no less).

Grandpa Zumbaugh's first grandbabies. "There's nothing like babies."

Aunt Anne and Uncle David are so happy to welcome some more girls to the boy-populated Clidence family!

Aunt Sadie is so proud. She's going to be that cool aunt who let's the girls do things mommy doesn't approve of. :)

I couldn't thank my mom more for basically living with us for almost 2 months. She's been the BIGGEST help and I couldn't have done it without her love and support. Thanks "Mamaw Moowee" (Grandma Murray)!

Shot through the heart...or leg

The girls got their first set of shots, a week old. Of course, mommy cried - perhaps not as loud as screaming Lauren (who I've lovingly dubbed, "Loudmouth Lauren") but I did cry.

Screaming Lauren

So, my youngest child (by 14 seconds) continually screams her head off when she's not being held. She's not colicky (thank God), but she is very cuddly and wants to be held. She looks like this when she doesn't get her way.

Are all my Dave shirts to become spit rags?

My ode to Dave...he has twins too you know. Holding both babies isn't hard, it's picking them up at the same time that's challenging. I'm sure when I try to hold them both in a few more months, there'll be some kicking and screaming. And the girls probably won't like it either. :)

Milk does a body good

I love the satisfied faces of my babies after they eat. It's like all is right with the world.
“There is no finer investment for any community than putting milk into babies.” -Winston Churchill

Sisterhood of the Traveling...Boppy

The Boppy seems to be one of the greatest baby inventions ever. How we love the Boppy...and each other.

Our first days...

Grandma and Grandpa Clidence welcomed us home with a bottle of champagne. It's nice to know how cheap of a date I now am from nearly a year of no alcohol!

Once we got home, we thought the girls would like laying together whenever they were awake. We were wrong.

Sometimes when they fell asleep we could trick them into lying together. It wasn't until they woke up that they realized how sick of each other they truly are. 9 months of kicking and punching each other takes its toll.

Their favorite thing is to sleep on daddy...even his snoring can't discourage a good nap on a hairy chest.
